I am enquiring about the times required for stress annealing 316L wire, 18 thousands of an inch diameter,.
I intend that stress annealing will improved the ductility of this highly cold worked wire (> 85% reduction in area) for a subsequent cold-forming opertaion.

Corrosion resistance is an important factor and should be maintained as much as possible despite the annealing.
I am not looking to reduce the Ultimate tensile strength by that great an amount.

Sincerely,
Eoin

Stress relieving for stainless steel wire & springs is typically carried out at a temperature of 230-260 C for 30 minutes.
