Hello everyone !
I am doing a simple static simulation on a spring attached to a cylinder at the Bottom.I used ANSA as a input file to solve in ABAQUS.
My task is , I modelled a simple cylinder geometry with a 2 node spring element where one node is connected to the cylinder bottom ( Constraints node) and the other node with all DOF grounded at the bottom . I have defined the spring element with positive stiffness. A Displacement of 3mm is given in z direction from top of the cylinder with DOF 12456 arrested. The results show that the reaction forces at the spring element are negative when compared to the reaction force at the displacement node which is positive. I tried the same case with Cload but suprprisingly the reaction forces are same .

By principle, i must get positive reaction force at the spring element. Why do I get a negative reaction force at the Spring element in this case ?

Could someone help me on this please ??

Unless I am missing something, you have applied the displacement in the positive Z direction, and your reaction should be in negative Z direction. Or, are you talking about the force in the spring rather than the reaction? A sketch would help a lot.

hallo bkal ,

I found the solution.

Many Thanks.
