I have run a simulation in Ansys and exported the defromed geometry in a cdb file.
I want the geometry in cad format (*igs). I imported cdb file in Hypermesh and I did Geometry-create surfaces-from FE...but I think the model has not 2D elements.
The model I had in Ansys was 3D.
Could anybody help me in exporting this in igs, in order to import it in S/W?
I have not used Hypermseh before and I can not understand what is happening...Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.....

The only way I can use hypermesh, as an occasional user, is to do the relevant tutorial first and then repeat the exercise on my model.

You can not have a proper geometry back from FEA model. Thought, you can extract 2D elements off the 3D element surfaces and then can have crude representation of geometry for comparison sake. (I'm an Abaqus user but I'm pretty sure it works same for Ansys as well).

A question: Why you want to export defomred geometry?
