Hi

I have modelled a hydrocarbon tank that rests freely above the ground. I am studying the stresses and deformation in the tank wall and tank bottom plate(base that rests on the ground). I am using friction elements to model the interaction between the tank base and foundation. Its a axisymmetric model using shell elements. I want to simulate a condition when the tank is filled to few metres of liquid and then the liquid is heated. The model works well for pressure loading only or temp loading only or when temp and the pressure loading are given in a single load step ( it will have the ramped - i.e simultaneous application of pres and temp). But if I give the pressure loading and then the temp loading in different load steps, it never converges. I have tried tuning friction parameters ,mesh etc but nothing works.Kindly note that its just a structural prob, where I am applying a uniform temp to the base and small height of tank.Kindly help me
