Hope someone can help with this, point me in the right direction - or just say it cant be done!

I've got a ANSYS 4.4 input file in binary format, and ultimately I want to be able to read this into Patran 2001r2a DB to view it and add new load cases.

Doing this in one hit is probably too much to hope for, but if anyone knows of any freeware available that would do any of the tasks below, it would make my job alot easier.

1)Convert the binary file to ascii format (can then manually convert the input file into and ABAQUS-format input deck and use the read_abaqus utlity in Patran to do the rest...)

2)convert the binary file to an ABAQUS input file (cuts out the manual editting......)

3)(Be optimistic!) Do the whole lot at once and read the ansys binary file into a Patran DB

Thanks in advance for any input

Hi GJS if you have ansys interactive you might change it to /PREP7 input ASCII so Patran can easiliy read it via executing Utilities/General/Read ANSYS prep7file on (MSC.Patran v8.0 under Windows NT for example) read_ansysm.plb FEM S2 Student: ABQ,NAS,COS,ANS,MAR,SAP,
