I an trying to do a thermal simulation in Ansys mechanical, and with external calculation I can get it to run fine and five good results, the problem I have is this is an inelegant solution.
I have 3 heat sources in the simulation and have set these as internal heat generation, the units for this are W/m3. I have the losses in total watts per groups of bodies. I have grouped these bodies as Named Selections.
What I want to do is to set a variable to the total heat loss, get the volume of the named selection divide one by the other and use that as the magnitude for the internal heat generation.
is it possible to do this ? is it the best solution ? and how do I do it. I have been working on assumption of starting with the *get command with volu but cannot see how you reference a named selection, I am also unsure where in the tree to place the command ?
All assistance would be appreciated
