i m doing stress analysis of connecting rod for which i have to apply forces at two end at piston end i have applied pressure but at other crank end i want to apply fixed support at 120 degree im not able to get any option as such to apply please help me apply also im not able to apply bolt pretension i select geometry also while apply bolt pretension but it always says no geometry selected plz help me out i have modelled it in proe 2.0 and then imported the iges file im attaching the iges file if any does it plz upload the solution plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i will be really very thankful

I looked your model. I could not understand your question. could you show the position that you want to fix it in a picture.

Create the area that you want to fix it as a separate area (you have to divide your area).

means i didnt understand waht u mean by dividing the area .................
what i want to do i will tell again
first u can see the back small hale at that i want pressure applied at one face i have done it fine..........
next i want that another side hole having bolts and all that i want that the fixed area should be in 120 degree from center i will upload the photo for reference and another i want to apply bolt pretension of 9490N in bolts how can i apply bolt pretension im not able to know..........

i want to apply a pressure of 3.15 mpa at that end and fix support at other end like that in figure pressure i know how to apply but fix support like that how can i do plzzz see pic u will understand beside this in bolts im not able to apply bolt pretension that is 9490 N
if u can do it anything plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help me out im in very trouble im very frustrated right now because of it .......................if u can upload the procedure or ansys file u can do that also ..............and thank u again .................................

Hi, you can fix a face (it is not possible to fix just a part of face). The face that you have is in 360 degree; therefore you have to divide this face to have a separate part with 120 degree.

yes, you have to do that in proe or in Ansys design modeler. If you search "bolt pretension"in workbench help, you will find an example about that.

actually you can do that 120 degrees thing in ansys. At desing modeler you need to skecth your area for 120 degrees after that extrude it, at "operation" tab choose "imprint", and you now seperated your face. you can apply now fixed support to area of 120 degrees.

You know if there are no side forces why not do symmetry? That takes care of a lot of the problem unless you are looking at buckling.
