Ansys Workbench - How to list the element types 1

Hello.

I'm using Ansys Workbench, and unlike the APDL, it hasn't got a way (that I found) to get the element types and keyopt list like we had in the classic by LIST->PROPERTIES->ELEMENT TYPES.

I tried solver output, but I didn't get that information there since I changed the "Element Control" option to "Manual" and then the "Brick Integration Scheme" to "Full". But I would like to see the list with that option changed.

Until now, the only way to get it was to write input file, run it in APDL and then get the list, but I think it must have a way to do it without getting out of Workbench, at least, I hope so!

You could open your Workbench Mechanical database in APDL and use the ELIST command.

I don't think WB shows this info directly in the same way that Mechanical does. However, in the Solution Information area (when 'Mesh' is selected in the tree) it will inform you of the element type - this may not be detailed enough for you though. The KEYOPTs for each element are chosen via the different options in WB and hence although there is no "listing" as such there is a description of each KEYOPT set for the element (extra output, element behaviour, and so on). The 'workaround' is to transfer your model to Mechanical and do a listing from there.

I'd also check the WB manual - WB uses "standard" element types when meshing a particular geometry (and by the mesh settings given by the user i.e. tri, quad, hex, tet, etc.) and these will be given in the manual.

u can write a mechanical .db file .. see the analysis settings->analysis data management->save mapdl db
by default it is no .. turn it to yes .. and will get a additional db file in the working directory .. open it in mechanical apdl .. and be happy

I usually :
- click right 'solution' : 'transfer data to new .. mechanical apdl',
- then click right 'solution' again : update
- finally click right 'mechanical apdl' 'edit in mapdl'

in mechanical apdl : /prep7, upgeom...
