Hello,

I am a senior in Aerospace Engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology. I have been working on a inlet guide vane project and I am responsible in performing structural analysis on the CAD model. I am learning Ansys workbench while working on this project. I have issues performing static structural and dynamic analysis on such mechanism. On the static structural section I cannot get the solution of the analysis working when I placed the supports and forces on each blade. I have attached a video of the mechanism on the annular section of the project. Also is there a way to make the same motion and stress analysis like the video? Please can anyone let me know how to handle the situation. I am in need as deadlines are coming up to start building the device.

Marc, what analysis are you trying to perform? The whole model including mechanism? When you say the analysis is not working, what do you mean? It is not converging? It crashes? Any contacts in your model?

I have imported the CAD file on ANSYS workbench suite. I defined the material as aluminum alloy and then started the static structural analysis. I suppressed all the unnecessary components for the analysis of such model. I looking for the deformation and stress when the aerodynamic forces and moments are applied on each of the blade. I defined bonded and frictional contacts within each linkage piece and then added the supports where I think the supports should have been added. Attached are a bunch of images of the set up on ANSYS workbench. I cannot get any solutions; hence it does not converge and errors related to contacts and supports appear./Users/marcsalvadori/Downloads/picsdesign/1.JPG/Users/marcsalvadori/Downloads/picsdesign/2.JPG/Users/marcsalvadori/Downloads/picsdesign/3.JPG/Users/marcsalvadori/Downloads/picsdesign/5.JPG/Users/marcsalvadori/Downloads/picsdesign/6.JPG/Users/marcsalvadori/Downloads/picsdesign/7.JPG
