Ansys Workbench - Pretnesion and loadsteps

Dear Experts,

Is it not possible to define different pretension loads in different load steps like one can for pressure, force etc?

There doesnt seem to be any options to specify tabular data when pretension load is selected.

Any information greatly appreciated.

Hi,
unfortunately, Workbench uses the "simplified" method for applying pretension.
But, using APDL in a Commands snippet, you can "force" Workbench to behave exactly like Classical; thus you can vary the pretension and the status ("locked" or not).
I suggest you to setup a simple pretension problem in Classical (there is an appropriate example, in the Manual), record the log file, then examine it in order to fully understand what it does, then you can replicate this in Workbench.
If you can't find your way out, I have made what you need some time ago, but I fear that simply posting my APDL wouldn't be really useful without knowing anything of my model...

Hi,

Thanks for the tip! I have found the example problem (VM225) which I will look at soon.
I take it that Workbench does not recognise all APDL commands. SO i guess it will be a case of trial and error to see which commands do and dont work in WB
