If you want measure and section of the Product, you may have to go to ENOVIA 3D Com.

Can you please tell me - what workbench or product is the 3dxml option available in?

I have an HD2 configuration, but I don't see any 3dxml save as options in this package.

Thanks.

OOPS! I forgot to mention - I did just get V5R15 last week - in case you thought I was looking in some prior version.

Thanks again.

3DXML is not yet available from DS. I has only been announced as a future product (i.e. Vaporware) :-(

Hmm... That's funny. I just visited the Dassault website, and THEY say that it's currently available in V5R15. They even have a video presentation showing EXACTLY how it works.

What did *I* miss?

Well, I was hoping that after paying $25,000 this year for software and licensing, I wouldn't have to look anywhere else. :)

I'm really looking for the functionality that's already available in the existing package. I suspect, however, that it's an advanced functionality of the DMU type, which I don't have a licensed product for.

My goal is to use the XML, ONLY if I can use it easily. Otherwise, it's a far off goal, with no real priority.

Thank you for your response, though.

3Dxml is several service packs away (if we're lucky) Of the solutions mentioned here we have tried the ones from Actify and eDrawings. Also tried the solution from Cimmetry. Edrawings seems to be the best of the lot.

Until 3Dxml is released you can try the poorman's method.

Save your CATPart to a STL file format and view the result in a free viewer. (I reccomend DeskArtes View Expert. You can measure and section with it)

If you need to put a CATProduct into a STL then use the Product to Part under the Tools menu in the Assembly workbench. Note: control the STL using the performance selections under tools->options->display.

3D XML will be available mid June on SP1 in the V5 infra withtout any additional charges - DS will provide also a free basic player as UGS and others did...keep tuned on the 3ds.com site

lordrailie if you're looking for a viewer with measure/section capabilities have a look to the P1 product :

or the 3dcom product line as catiajm mentioned earlier ...

Its amazing that a software that is that expensive, does not provide a viewer.

What I am doing at the moment is to save as wrl, a view it in cortona viewer or similar, but i didnt find yet a tool where to measure and section wrl files
