There are many ICBO approved anchors (i.e. expansion type anchors and epoxy type) for concrete; however, it is so difficult to find such approval for masonry (or brick) application.

Years back, there were bolts such as Redhead Dynabolts that had ICBO approval but lately it has been removed.

Please reply with any information on masonry "post-installed" anchors with ICBO approval and LA City approval. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Mattman. I've used similar details for when I was involved with Division 88 work for the City of Los Angeles for anchoring flexible roof diaphragms into URM walls. Back then Hilti didnt have HY-20 I guess they had a different product which slips my mind.

Do you know a general "all-purpose" expansion anchor approved for CMU walls? It can be undercut, wedge, insert type. As for epoxy anchor in CMU, you may use HILTI HY-150 without inserts per table 8 in ER-5193. I take this to mean that URM is not included.

I welcome any other engineer's input to this thread.

Thanks again Mattman.
