We have being having problems with mates in solidworks 2003 and wonder if others have had the same problem?

One thing we found if you use edges and faces in mates on the same object they dont work right. If you make an edge parrellel to another and ond face parallel to another then you cant move the object in any direction however you can rotate it but you shouldnt be able to.

Any one else have this problem?

I have not had that problem, but SP2 was supposed to fix assembly mating problems. The problem I had was that I would have an assembly with no mate errors, then when I re-opened it later, it would have a bunch of errors, mostly overdefining concentric holes.

Bob,
While using configurations I would get mate errors every time I changed from one configuration to another. The Ctrl Q did the trick on fixing them.
