Anyone renew their license in TX lately? Is it a good thing or a bad thing that our own signature is no longer required on the card, or that the card no longer contains the statement it used to contain?
My old card says "This certifies that HgTX, whose signature appears below, being the holder of certificate number XXXXX currently renewed is entitled to practice as a professional engineer in Texas for the period of..." followed by my signature and that of the TPBE's exec director.
The new one has my license number, expiration date, name, the words "Licensed Professional Engineer", and the board chair's signature.
I can't make up my mind whether they simly got rid of a whole lot of unecessary wordage (an effort I should support), or if we've just lost something here. Am I just prejudiced because the new cards look like my old elementary school library card?
