Is there any way to change the default density from 1 to .283.
So when it asks for a density value of a part that has not had a value assigned, it will default to .283 instead of 1.

Sorry, have "mass_property_calculate" set to automatic an am get'n a little lazy. Don't want to have to type .283 & enter for a million parts every time I open a job done by someone else.

Perhaps a mapkey is the way to go on this one. Go to Tools > mapkeys and click the button labeled New. You can use any key sequence (like your initials or jjax), and can name it something like assign_steel_density.
Now hit Record, and go through the steps of assigning a new density (Edit > Setup... Mass Props, Density = .283, Ok, Done). Hit Stop in the Record Mapkey dialog box, then OK. Save the mapkey (it's stored in your config file) then close.
Now whenever you open a part, all you have to do is type whatever key sequence you assigned, and the density will get changed.

Hope this helps,
