My boss came to me a while back & showed me his new Dell M70 laptop & the circles in UG look eliptical or elongated from the bottom to the top. Yes the circle really is a real circle.

It my be the machine as well though because if he opens an attachment in outlook it switches to 800 x 600. It also loses the res. setting when ever he shuts down at night. He starts the machine & it's in 800 x 600 again & for life of me I am at my wits end trying to figure this thing out.

HELP.

I am going to post this in a couple of other places.

I have seen this with UG. On my previous monitor, There were buttons to adjust the width of the screen, which helped. On my new one, I had to up the resolution as high as it would go. I squint alot now;)

Is this one of those "widescreen" laptops? If so, you'll probably need to adjust NX to compensate for this situation.

Go to Preferences/Visualization... and select the tab labeled "Screen" and select that big button labeled "Calibrate" and a square with subscribed circle will come up with 2 sliders that you can use to adjust it until it's truly round, or the square is truly square, whichever is easier for you to determine.

Now you may ask why we also have the options for displaying either a "2 Inch" or a "5 Centimeter" diameter circle. Well beleive it or not, you can take out your little metal rule (scale) and while trying to avoid scratching the surface of the screen, place it over the circle and adjust it so that it's not only round but also either exactly 2 Inches or 5 Centimeter (whichever is more convinient for you) in diameter. What that means is that if you ever want to see, on the screen, the true and exact physical size of something, all you have to do is go to View/Operation/Zoom... and enter a value of 1.00 for the scale and that's what you will see on the screen.
