My company wants to use ansys for contact problem of stem/block and static analysis, linear materials. Anyone know about the price for basic ANSYS / mechanical module only. Anyone can give me the range for one seat? Thanks in advance.

It depends. As in everything engineering. It depends where you are in the world, the type of licence you want and the number of seats. Speak to an ANSYS re-seller, they'll be more than willing to provide you with a ballpark figure which you can then negotiate upon. You'll need to speak to them to tailor your licence requirements anyway. Generally, the more seats you buy and the more expensive the licence the better able you are to negotiate. It's a no-brainer I know.

I am located at US. I just want to know the range of the price for one seat of mechanical module only. Because my existing license of pro/mechanica is expensive, just to figure out the other cheaper finite element package? Someone said that abaqus is more expensive than ansys for basic package? Is it true?

Generally speaking ABAQUS is more expensive yes, but it isn't an entirely fair comparison since with ANSYS you can tailor the modules of each licence to your requirements. I doubt anyone here would be willing to give you a price (it's a sensitive issue after all), not even a range. It would be up to the re-seller to give out this sort of information. What's the problem with calling the re-seller?

Thanks Drej,

You are right, let me call the re-seller right now.
