I've been assigned to start MBD (Model Based Definition) our models, for tolerance analysis', and possibly use the MBD to carry over into drawings. This is not the actual Solidworks MBD package, just the DimXpert that's built into Solidworks.

As quirky as trying to dimension parts in the model is, the idea is finally starting to grow on me.

However, when I bring over the DimXpert annotations into a drawing, then make updates in the model, and alt+tab to update the drawing, Solidworks just crashes all the freaking time.

I can't imagine I'm the only one encountering this. I'm sure DimXpert isn't super popular, but has anybody else had any positive or negative experience with this?

I have yet to detail a part on which DimXpert was even remotely stable.

I no longer even attempt to use it.

Appreciate the feedback, wanted to verify it wasn't just me. Why would Solidworks release an add-in that isn't remotely stable!?!

Honestly, no idea.

It's not like it's new either.

My parts typically have a lot of versions controlled by configurations and external refs. Something about that doesn't play nice with DimXpert.. I wind up with a lot of displayed dims and drawing dims that are pulled from another configuration (i.e. they are correct for configuration X but configuration Y is currently being displayed) which ruins the whole point of the system.
