I am looking for a table with some co-efficient of friction information. Just close approximations.

Simply dry clean Stainless steel on chrome plated steel (or some other combinations) NO LUBRICATION, chrome is 10-20rms, Stainless is 40-50.

I'd rather not do any testing if I can get away with it.

Also, what is a good surface treatment to reduce Stainless to Stainless galling as higher pressures. We tried Armalloy coating (which is affordable), and the jury is still out.

I need to keep the corrosion resistance of SS, but have minimal $$$ and time to experiment.

Thanks for the help

If you can consider a different material, Nitronic 60 stainless has about the same corr. res. as 304, but is very resistant to galling-even against itself.

Sorry,

I'm a little slow tonight....how do I go to a specific thread number?

No space between "thread" and the number creates a link.

I didn't know that before, now I do!

Sorry again,

I did a search and this time I typed in the correct terms and got much better results. Imagine that, the search engine did not read my mind the first try? Seems like friction is a pretty common topic here.

Thanks for the SS info Metalguy
