Is it possible to place a regular old 2D image file (say .bmp or .jpg format) onto a solid body in NX6? I have a particular warning label that I need to put on a part and thought it would be cool if I could copy the label image out of a pdf and past it onto my 3D model somehow. Is this possible? If not I'll just use a sketched rectangle as a placeholder (not as cool).

Thanks.

Yes, this can be done if you have a Studio License. Go to...

View -> Visualization -> Decal...

...where you will be able to place either a .tif, .jpg or .png image file on the face of your model. Note that it will not be visible except when viewing your model in Studio Mode.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Now the tricky question is: how do I have it visible on a drawing view?

You can't. However, you can capture an image, such as a JPEG, PNG or TIFF, of your model while viewing it in Studio Mode so that the 'decal' is visible and then using...

Insert -> Image...

...place a copy on your drawing sort of like pasting a photo to your drawing. Note that this 'view' will not update if the model changes at a later date. You will need to create a new image file and replace this one.
