Several decades back I had some "Mill" certified plywood go to h*ll on a small personal project. That was when I learned about the American Plywood Association, now the Engineered Wood Association, and the significance, and value of their approval mark.
My daughter is building a house, and the builder is using tongue and groove 3/4 inch AdvanTech subflooring (Aspen OSB) The contract said tongue and grove plywood, but that is kind of aside issue for the moment.
There are No APA markings on the AdvanTech. There is a Proud declarations of Sustainable forest practices, and TECO tested, TECO being a 3rd party testing company, not a mill and process inspecting outfit, as best I can tell.
Lowes and Home Depot have started selling it, with mostly positive reviews, most notably with praise for it's stability and water resistance, even compared to plywood. There are Many Similar positive reviews on some builders' bulletin boards, although it's use seems to be somewhat regional. Some builders say "no way."
- I'm interested in folks' first hand, or reliable second hand experiences with this product.
thanks
