I'm exploring the possibilities we have in Mechanical APDL, because i'm really unexpert.
In this moment i'm trying to realize a model of the following structure.
I have two beams, I section, fixed at the same end. At the other end we have a whirl support, realized with a sheet metal, welded to the lower surfaces of the two beams.
So the structure can be reduced to a beam fixed at an end and supported to the other.
My goal is a stress/strain analysis of the structure, in particular of the whirl support.
This example is simply to resolve without Ansys help, but it's just to understand the connection between the different elements.
I'm trying to understand how to use beam element for the two beams and a solid element to meshing the whirl support.
Once i have defined two lines for the beams and a volume for the support how can I connect them?
Or alternatively, once I've imported an iges model for the support, can i define 2 beam and match all together properly?
I wish just some tips, thanks in advance for any help
