Dear all,
I am conducting some research into the outlet sizing of PRV complying to API standards. According to API526 a 1x2" sized PRV changes to a 1.5x3" once an inlet flange class of 2500 is reached.
I realize that the inlet flange changes from 1" to 1.5" due to the mechanical requirements of the inlet flange (correct?) but the outlet requirements are not so clear.
I have assumed that the outlet increased in size is to reduce choking and subsequent pressure buildup due to the increased flow rate but I cannot find any information to confirm this assumption, does anyone know where API justifies this outlet size change in PRVs?
Thanks for your help.
Steven
