I am reading this standard.I have a question on that.in sec 2.2.2 the third and last sentense are not clear for me please help me by clearifying their meaning.

Refer to sec 2.2.7 what are typical applications for purged impulse lines in oil and gas treatment facilities?

According to this standard there are six more known primary elements for head type flow instruments. As l saw mostly orifice plates are used in this regard. I want to know about others usage situations esp in oil and gas facillities.

API551 section flow: sec 2.2.7
In O&G plants, impulse lines (orifice, vcone with diffentiel pressure), on upstream side of separator are often full of slurries. I saw it many times during each shutdown period when we removed instruments for maintenance.
