Can anyone assist please.

We have been asked by our client to verify as part of our
design calculations, the size of the nozzle used as the tank overflow.

We have satisfied the venting requirements from the associated API 2000 but we cannot see from either API 650
or API 2000 where the rules are specified to determine
the size of overflow.

Can anyone please provide guidance or information on how we
can satisfy our client's request.

Generally, it would just be sized for the maximum pump-in rate, there are no formal rules. If it is just an open nozzle, treat it as an orifice and apply Bernoulli's equation. If it has attached piping, evaluate the whole pipe but don't exceed the orifice flow rate.

nco2612,
Seeing as you have "double posted" this question which is not recommended. See my reply on the other posting.

API-650 tanks do not normally have overflow connections.
