Hello. I am doing a design verification of a tank based on API 650. For its foundation, as per API 650 12th edition Annex B, recommended sand base is 75mm to 100mm clean washed sand. But, client's existing design used a minimum of 50mm thick oiled sand. Is it acceptable? Or do we need to increase it to a minimum of 75mm? I was wondering if there is a difference between clean washed sand and oiled sand when used as tank sand base. Thanks guys.
