API650 Requirements to record Slab #'s

I am aware of the requirement to track heat numbers and the respective plate numbers, but is there any requirements stating the need to also track plates back to specific slab numbers?

I understand doing so could be useful in the future, but after fabrication has begun traceability of the slab # beyoond the recorde heat number become very difficult if not impossible.

Short answer -- no.

And adding that requirement to your purchase specification will add to your cost, without any [IMHO] significant increase in quality or traceability.
