I could not find the snow load that was used in original design of an industrial building with flat roof in 1976 to 1978.
What building code was at that time? State specific building code? Snow load? Was at time snow drift load?
The building is in KY.

Thank you

I don't think Kentucky had a mandated state building code prior to 1980. Prior to that, I think it was all local ordinances (if any) that recognized certain codes or had some of their own rules.

Most likely the Southern Standard Building Code, later the Standard Building Code. I have several older editions but will not be back in my office until Tuesday. I think I have the edition for that time period; however, as WARose notes, those were typically adopted by local ordinance and sometimes they were several editions behind.

Ron (Structural,
I appreciate when you get back to office and can send me the code especially the part for snow load. Thank you very much.

Ron (Structural)
May I ask if you returned to your office?
I appreciate if you can send me a copy of the code

Thanks

How do you know if the version of the SBC he's going to give you will be the one (assuming there was even one) enforced where this project is?

In any case, below is a link to the first adopted Kentucky state building code (in 1980). The snow load is dealt with on image # 221, & 557-563. (The link is searchable.)

The ground snow loads (for Kentucky) don't look that different from the ASCE 7 loads of today.

Dear WARose (Structural,
Thank you very much and I appreciate it.
I was out of office missed your post yesterday.
Am I permitted to download it since is old ?

Thanks again

It gives me that option when I click on the pdf option. But I doubt the pdf would be searchable. If you look at the top of the screen, you've got as search engine right there that works for this.

1999 SBC section 1605 has a ground snow load of 15 psf for Kentucky. For roof snow loads it kicks you over to ASCE-7 Section 7.
