Quite hesitate to ask this question, as I am very new to API 650 11th Ed.

We have tank with 3.5 meter dia having some 2’’ process nozzles.

Client ask to use Appendix P for nozzle Load, do we need the loads calculations for 2’’ nozzles?

And if yes please guide me as Longitudinal & circumferential force is 2400 KN with Long & Cirum moment is 0.24 KN-m.

Also as per table 5.6 (a) there is no need for R/F shall we provide with above loads?

Presumably, if the customer specifies loads and a method of analysis, they want an analysis done.

Check if the geometry falls within the scope of Appendix P. At one time, the standard method was only applicable to larger tanks, and I don't remember if the current Appendix is still like that or not.

It is not uncommon, that when customers specify standardized loads, that those loads may be much higher than the actual anticipated loads- if it looks like a problem to satisfy the loading conditions, check with the customer to see if they can be reduced.

The cost of a reinforcing pad on a 2" nozzle is very low- use it or omit it as required to satisfy the loading conditions.
