Hi all

I have what I believe is a very simple question.

What is the name of the code you would use today for a timber building in the Washington DC area?

You should contact the local building department of the place where your project is. They are the only ones who can tell you this. They can tell you the adopted, governing building code and that particular code will reference the applicable timber/wood code/specifications.

The 2005 National Design Specification for Wood Construction (2005 NDS) was approved as a American National Standard on Jan. 6, 2005. The designation from the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) and the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) as ANSI/AF&PA NDS-2005.
