I am a new user to Solidworks, we have three seats of 2001 installed and have been getting "sldworks.exe-Application error" messages appearing randomly since installing Solidworks three months ago. Our MIS people believe it to be a software compatibility problem but I have my doubts. We are running networked no-name computers,750MHz with 128Mb RAM and NT service pack 6, with program files installed on local machine and all part files stored on a server. These computers are used throughout the company without the modelling/cad packages and I am told are very stable. We also have our old CAD software (Anvil express) still installed on the same local machines. Solidworks and Anvil are partner programs so I wouldn't expect problems there. The error messages read in the following form "the instruction at 0x03120057 referenced memeory at 0x00000002d9. The memory could not be read".
Does any body have any tips on what may be causing the problem?

As strange as it may sound, it could be a problem with your video card. We had several problems, including this one, before we upgraded our cards. You can check the video card issues on the SolidWorks website.

Philb1,

Bump up your RAM to at least 512. If you do any complex modeling take it up to 1gig of RAM.

Also, change your virtual mamory, if you haven't already. The setting is 3 times your Ram for the Minimum setting, and 4 times your RAM for the Maximum.

Do as DSI says check you video card. What kind of video card are you using in all those machines running SW.

Hope that helps, Scott Baugh, CSWP :)
