Application of MIL-PRF-8188 preservation oil to assembly for aerospace application 1

A customer requires that we apply MIL-PRF-8188 preservation oil on assembly that is used in the fuel system on an aircraft. Are there any standards that define the proper application process?

I work with USAF and USN... and have NEVER heard of this specification before... I had to look it up.

MIL-PRF-8188 appears to be a turbine engine preservation oil... not fuel system preservation Oil. Typically fuel system rubber seals and gaskets are assembled 'wet' with turbine engine oil... not preservative oil.

For giggles, I checked USAF T.O.s, MIL-HDBKs/-STDs and a couple of FAA resources for engine preservation: this oil was NOT in any current documentation... but other preservation oils WERE in these documents.

IF Your customer insists on using this -8188 oil for whatever purpose, then THEY need to provide the documentation or references.
