I find this functionality very handy, it doesn't require me to double-click the parent assembly of a part I want to move. It automatically finds the closest parent and moves the single part instead of whatever is highlighted blue in the tree.

I was wondering, can this behaviour be set for the compass?

OK! I had a bit of a brain-freeze here apparently, because just using flexible sub assemblies gives me the behavior I want. I do have to remember to explicitly use the 'Propagate position to reference' command before saving or I'll lose my positioning changes.

This is in the context of working in Enovia VPM and the use of constraints is very minimal.

I guess this could work... but I'll just keep double-clicking parent nodes, seems safer. Though that too, can cause mistakes! That's why I would like a more automatic approach, because in 99% of the cases if I select a single part in the graphics window, I do NOT want to move an entire assembly node if I happen to forget to double-click the correct node in the structure.
