Hi, hope someone can help.

I need to apply a fixed displacement to a pipe rotated through 45 degrees. The displacement will be in the perpendicular directions. The pipe is free to expand axially.

Any ideas?

When i try and apply nodal displacements (in global coordinates) the pipe gets restrained axially.

Displacements ARE boundary conditions. If you want a particular "degree of freedom" to be free, leave "that" displacement field blank.

"Blank" = free
"Zero or some other value" = fixed at that magnitude
