I am modelling a reinforced tube. i.e. a cylindrical inner tube part with a second fibre layer part. They have a frictional interaction between them. I also want to add a thin encapsulation layer over both of them without it being present in the interaction zone.

How can I add a skin property to the exterior surfaces of an assembly only?

p.s. Any help much appreciated

Skins are defined on part level but you don’t have to apply them to all faces of the part (partitions will allow you to limit the reinforced region).

Instead of using skins, you can also create a layer of surface elements and tie it to your solid parts.

Check the documentation chapter "Defining skin reinforcements" for more details (including the role of skins in contact interactions).
