Applying displacement relative to the deformed configuration and not the initial configuration

Hi Everyone,

I am running a model that has a lot of bending. I am performing a restart analysis to adjust the final position of the part after the bending steps. In the restart analysis, I am refining the position of the bent part by adjusting the position of some nodes using a displacement boundary condition. However, when I specify the displacement, the displacement value input is relative to the position of the node in the undeformed configuration which makes it difficult for me to know how much to displace the required node. Is there a way to specify the displacement relative to the deformed part in a given step rather than relative to the undeformed state? I have tried using OP=New but it doesn't work for me.

Thanks for the help!

Paul

Use a velocity boundary condition. Works also in static analysis.

Instead of restart try using import capability with "Update reference configuration" option turned on. This should give you the desired effect.
