I am doing some electrical-thermal analysis.
i need to apply a total of 800A current on the top surface of my axisymmetric body.
I choose surface current as my load and put a value of 800A / (cross sectional area of top surface). Then I choose the top surface (in axisymmetry 2D model, that would be just a line) to apply that current load.
I thought I was doing okay.
However, in another forum I found this. - You have to couple in voltage all the nodes of the top surface. This means that all nodes have the same voltage, but you cannot define its value. There is an option to couple a set of nodes in voltage ( I´m not used to Abaqus, but I´m sure it has this option).
Can anyone tell me whether I am doing it right or is there any way to couple as mentioned there?
One more thing, if I am right, that is just choosing surface current is okay, then should I consider the total cross sectional area?
My model's top surface has 90 mm diameter. So I would choose pi*(90^2)/4 ?
