Approach Temperature is the temperature difference between the temperature of the cooling water leaving the cooling tower and the wet bulb temperature of the air entering the cooling tower

I would like to seek someone help whether high approach temperature can optimize the power consumption of variable speed cooling tower.

You might save a little in terms of the cooling tower fan energy itself, but this will be more than offset by an increase in chiller energy consumption and a decrease in hours of economization per year.

I would go with a larger tower (with a lower approach) to get the best efficiency. I would typically design a tower with an approach of 3-5 degrees, depending on size restrictions.
