I would like to take some of my posts, especially those that are highly "graphic," and move them to the CATBlog site.

I would also be willing to take many of the pictorial posts, partcularly those that have time and effort invested, and make FAQ's - make the header and description on this forum, and then link back to the CATBlog for the full article.

This has been suggested to me by several people, including one of the ENG-TIPS moderators. Does anyone have any objections to this?

Thank you for your feedback.

Do you really mean "move", as in erase the posts from here?

I have no problem with you copying my posts and duplicating them on your web site. And I really don't care what you do with your own posts.

But I do NOT want you to take my posts off of this site!

I don't have the ability to erase anything. (heck, I can't even edit my own posts, here!)

I'm only suggesting that the information be duplicated and archived at the CATBlog. It's sort of like me saying, I don't want to "plagiarize."

The main reason for doing this, is because it's MUCH easier to find the information. CATBlog is an "answer-only" site - that is, no Q&A. It would serve very well for this type of situation.

I have been asked by several forums, including this one, to make the CATBlog a FAQ/Knowledgebase repository for the Catia BB forums. The only thing that has been asked, (rightfully) is that the info being linked to, must have a good description, perhaps the first paragraph, of the body of the full article text. (or a description of the photo, if that be the case)

Just so everyone knows - the CATBlog is not a commercial venture. It's just an information sharing site. I have Google ads on the site to help capture some of the hosting fees only.

Hi,

Can you do the same thing with my catscript already posted here? May be also can put a link (or make a better one) to that FAQ here with CATIA docs?

Sorry, but I didn't find a way to make the same thing that you want to do on CATBlog (may be I didn't give enough attention how to post something?).

Regards
Fernando

I can, and will post anything that you would like, providing it is value added, which a CATScript most certainly is...

But I would also encourage you to join the CATBlog, and help out. I don't want to undermine this forum - it still is a very good and useful forum - but it fulfills a different mission. The ideal scenario would be to get as many people as possible to post here (and any other forums that you might frequent) as well as CATBlog, and intertwine the resources, by linking FAQ's and whatnot. I think you'll find some very different aspects to CATBlog than the conventional forum.

Catia V5 users are part of a niche community, and since there is SOOO much information to grasp, (and it's ever-changing) we should use all available tools. CATBlog helps accommodate the change by allowing FAQ follow-ups under the same topic, for different versions or SP's. It's easy to find, because it's all categorized. Additionally, items can be edited, so one author could reasonably pack several releases into one post, by simply editing.

Again, I invite you to join, and use the CATBlog to help yourself, and others, enhance the value of this Catia forum.

By the way - part of the idea of archiving these posts, is also to draw on the lessons learned in the follow ups by other users, and to compile all of the useful additional info into a more user friendly article.

Sometimes, even veteran users learn new things, and posting "conventional" methods sometimes yields new and helpful info. I don't like wading through long posts, so I want to condense a little...

what I put in Forums (this one and other) is free.

I only hope that anyone who get free info from forums will not sell it back !
