Are two screens better than one?

I presently use one 20" flat screen with WF2.

If I was to buy another screen, should it be another 20" screen - so I use both - or one single 24", and only use this?

Any advice???

I would recommend 2 screens I switched to 2 screens awhile back and could not do without it now. I also read articles about productivity improvements while using 2 screens. I am not sure where they are or if it was a salesmans promotion. But, I am sold.

cheers for your rpely archibsc

if you work with the main menu on say the rhs screen, what can you do with the lhs one?

Unfortunately due to layoffs (but fortunately for me) we had lots of unused monitors so some of us Pro/E users began to install 2 screens. It will spoil you. If you start using 2 screens you won't want to go back (my opinion).
We had a few display problems when we were on Pro/2001, but no problems at all with W.F. (as I can tell).

Here is what works good for me. I can have a pro/e session running on the one screen, while I have Intralink or a configuration management software running of the other. (I can also have eng-tips running on one screen)

Works great for me.

I agree with two posts above: Once you switch to 2 monitors, you won't want to go back.

The setup I have now lets me plug an old 15" monitor to my laptop. When I'm using Pro/E, I have new menus pop up in the secondary window, and I undock the model tree and put it in that window as well. This lets me maximize the graphics window on my laptop.

I'm happy with my little 15" second monitor... But 2 20" screens... wow..

I wonder what it would be like to use one of these set-ups:

Did anybody ever work with Intergraph MEDS?

Even in 1986 I had two monitors, and you could have up to eight viewing ports for one part/assembly.

In English pounds, that workstation alone cost 50,000. Then you needed our server and software.

And you needed couldn't even use Word/Excel on that UNIX-based machine, so just two screens for CAD!

Yes, I used Intergraph when I worked at CalTrans as a student engineer in the early 90s. They had these big monster machines with dual screens and a digitizer tablet with all the commands.

I am using a 21" widescreen as my ProE work window and a 17" widescreen on the left for all other apps such as Intralink. I don't understand how anyone can use just one screen now that I am used to the two. There are settings that allow various apps to start on whichever screen you want which means that you can get an e-mail or search a workspace for a part number without putting it in front of your work - excellent return for two monitors that cost less than the old 21" crt used to also they use less energy and don't have radiation issues. Go for it! Just speed up your cursor for the long journey and expect to be used to all the switching around in about a week.
