Area of bars in pairs

Hi Engineers,
Could someone clarify the statement; “area of bar in pairs”? I came across this in a steel reinforcement area table from an RC Workbook and I am wondering if this is applicable to RC Walls. Please see attached.
Any other references would be much appreciated.

This could be referring to the effective area to consider for bond length when splicing bundled bars. Do you have a reference where you read the term?

Just the sum of two bars. I don't know why you would want the table, but it could be used wherever you have paired bars, e.g. Wall bars each side, beam stirrups.
