ARV - Automatic Recirculation Valve

Dear Gents,

Can anyone tell me what is disadvantage of using ARV especially for large pumps? for example pump with discharge nozzle 18", capacity 1525 m3/hr, head 56.45 m, service is HOT WATER CIRCULATION PUMP.

Since my end user refuse to use ARV for big pumps

First of all, you posted in the wrong forum. Pump engineering is the right forum for this topic.
Due to the construction,there are quite significant pressure losses in the ARV. For an application of such high capacity, the energy loss in the ARV even when is on by passing will be be significant.
