I was reading a past ASI paper from STEEL CONSTRUCTION JOURNAL (Volume 44, No 2 June 2011) by Prof Greg Hancock from University of Sydney, entitled:
'Harmonising the Australian Standard AS 4100 Steel Structures'

One of the possible alternatives tabled was this:

Some 5+ years has passed since this paper, does any one know what was decided for the long-term future of AS 4100?

Nothing concrete but recent draft composite standard cherry picked a lot of the content from Eurocodes. I think that's the way it will go but will be modified to the NZ/Australia way of doing things, for example strength reduction factors vs partial factors of safety, etc.

Would need to be closely aligned with NZS3404 also (perhaps a joint standard), and can't see this changing anytime soon (I'm in New Zealand). Our standard is basically AS4100 plus a whole lot of seismic specific requirements. There are a few other differences but 95‰ identical.
