I am designing an exterior temporary construction wall (38'6" tall). The wall may be in place for quite some time (6-12 months) so I was designing using components and cladding wind loads from ASCE 7-05. My office does not have a copy of the ASCE 37-02 "Design Loads on Structures During Construction". I ordered the book today, but I the project may not have the time to wait for it. My questions are as follows:
1. Does the ASCE 37-02 cover wind loads? What is the maximum duration that they allow a structure to remain and still be considered "temporary construction"?
2. If I have a wind speed of 100 mph, exposure C, Aeff = 500 psf, gamma of 1.49 (Rh=40'), what type of reduction in the wind load would I expect? Is it worth taking this reduciton? Right now the interior C&C wind load is 14.9*1.49 = 22.2 psf.
Thanks for your help.
