Hi All,

Assuming a building with L=256ft, B=148ft, h=20ft (low-rise building and roof slope is 2.38 degree)
Figure 30.3-1 has indicated the wall corner zone(5) length of "a" which can be calculated as 8 ft
Figure 30.4-1 has indicated the wall corner zone(5) length of "0.6h" which can be calculated as 12 ft

I am uncertain about which option to choose for the appropriate design.

Please share your thoughts.

30.4 is a simplified approach that uses tables and adjustments rather than the approach taken in 30.3. If your building passes the four criteria in Section 30.4.1, you can use Figure 30.4-1 and the subsequent tables. If not, you should be using the 30.3 figures.

You can either:

Use 30.3 if the building DOES NOT PASS 30.4-1
Use 30.4 if the building DOES PASS 30.4-1
Use 30.3 if the building DOES PASS 30.4-1

30.4 is the "easier", simplified method. So you can choose to use it if you pass the check, but if you don't pass the check, you have to use 30.3
