Does anyone have experience using ASCE 7 online. I want to have a digital version of ASCE 7, and am curious if the program is clunky or has a poorly designed interface before I subscribe to it.

I just have a PDF. Are they not doing PDFs anymore?

The ASCE hazard tool is nice, but I'm guessing that's not what you're talking about since it's free.

You can buy a pdf version, but there's a separate online subscription they have that has some perks over just getting the pdf. Mostly curious if anyone has used it and felt that it's worth the money. Here's a link:

Read the fine print. Can more than one person use it (at a time)? Can it be shared? Is there a yearly fee? If you change computers, can you get the subscription changed (easily)? If you change companies, can you get the subscription changed (easily)?

I don't see the benefit of doing a subscription versus purchasing the PDF. You will need it for longer than 2 years at which point you have saved money if you purchased versus subscribed.

@JedClampett - It says one person at a time (that one person being only you), no sharing unless you purchase a multi-user license, the fee is yearly.

On some other standards, I downloaded a pdf, printed it, but still had the pdf. The advantage of that was I could do a text search in the pdf and find stuff that wasn't adequately indexed- no idea if that applies to this item.

Can you highlight parts of the *.pdf? One of the problems I have with the CSA documents is that I cannot add notes, or highlight.

I have the pdf. It is handy because I can set other bookmarks, make notes, add highlights, etc.

In my bluebeam, quite a few bookmarks were broken in ASCE 7-16 and -22. I contacted ASCE and they said the bookmarks were fine on their end. Not sure what's up with that.

Try using Microsoft edge. It works great with bookmarks. I have encountered that before

Thanks BTB_EI. That might work for me if it'll allow adding notes, etc. I'll check it out.

I'm curious if anybody else has had the same issue with Bluebeam. In mine, I'd guess 1/8 of the bookmarks throw me to the wrong page. As I run across errors, I fix them and the document improves. My ASCE 7-16 did this all along. When I bought ASCE 7-22 last year, I was disappointed to see the same problem. Not just one of my computers but all of them.

ASCE tried to help. I sent my pdf to them and the person sat on the phone clicking links that were broken on my end. They all worked fine on ASCE's end.

I contacted Bluebeam and they said fix them myself, much more politely of course. LOL
