I am conducting an ASD9 Code Check with GTStrudl V. 25. In the summary output of the Code Check, the controling load combination is noted as "AXC TBEN". I do not believe that this combination is correct, since it seems to only be adding two of the three D/C ratios (axial, minor bending, and major bending) together to get the overall controlling D/C ratio. I tried the same code check in Sap2000 and by hand, with the resulting D/C ratios being higher in Sap2000 and by hand than in GTStrudl, which brings the GTStrudl code check into question. Therefore, does anyone know what "AXC TBEN" stands for and how to calculate it?

The CASE center at Ga Tech should be able to answer the question for you. I don't use ASD 9 much but I do know that GTStrudl has to pass a very stringent QA/QC test to be used by NRC licensed Nuclear Power Plants and I doubt there is an error in the code check.

You should look up for the actual formulas and meaning of the "AXCTBEN" in the manual (Volume 2 I think). Most of the formulas are explained extensively.

But you should be aware that GT Strudl latest version is 30 (recently lunched). If there was and error in the ASD calculation in GT is not there any more since I compare all the ratios that the summary gives you with calculations made by hand from the ASD code and they where the same.
