ASME 8 Division 1 - Joint Efficiency for Seamless Head

Hi,

I had a little confusion regarding on the used of Joint Efficiency value for seamless head for situation below:-

1. Seamless Head (Torispherical)connect to vessel with type 2 (Single weld with backing strip), Full RT - Medium lethal.

My question is should the Joint Efficiency for seamless head still be E =1.0 (Refer to UW-12 (d)) or should it be E = 0.9 (if refer to Table UW-12)

I Think E = 1.0 is correct but the maker said that E should be 0.9 due to the type 2 condition.

For the head thickness calculation it should be E=1, since you have exceeded the spot radiography requirements.

Efficiency for Head thickness calcs and circ joint efficiency are two different things. The efficiency for head thickness calcs E = 1, Efficiency of the actual Circ Joint E=.9
