ASME Committee does not include specific classes of vessels in ASME Section VIII div. 1. Per introduction U-1 Scope (c)(2)(-c) pressure containers which are integral parts or components of rotating or recip. mech. devices. ASME does consider pressure vessels as containers.
AP1 510 mimics the same for ASME Code exemptions, however the way it is written here seems to imply there is a distinction between a container and pressure vessel, since it is written as two seperate classes.
My question is what is considered or example of a container compared to a pressure vessel, or are they the same? Is it possibly implying that a container is a component such as a filter or tank oil reservior for a compressor?
