Greetings,
I'm designing an extruded header and have a question about the required replacement area, here goes...
I have a header with tubes coming into it straight and additional tubes coming in at a 45° angle. The ones coming in at 45° are stagerred from the tubes that come in straight. The spacing between extrusions that I'm considering is the hypotenuse between the straight and staggered tubes. I'm limiting the reinforcement zone between the extrusions to half the spacing because otherwise the reinforcement zones will overlap. I am then calculating a required header thickness using the code equations... So my question is, am I allowed to reduce the replacement area required since the extrusions are on different planes? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
